In this context, the shift of political power after the elections held on May 14, 1950 led Ulus Newspaper, the voice of RPP in the field of press as an ideological tool since 1920, to abandon the role of state publishing agency and become the voice of opposition with a relatively democratic discourse in 1960?s. However the newspaper positioned in line with Democrat Party especially in foreign policy.As a consequence, the newspapers became prominent in the field of mass media due to both the conditions in Turkey and insufficiency in technological setting. In this context, to examine the opposition of Ulus and its reflection to public opinion also means to follow the transformation of RPP.
