Item Lope de Vega tiyatrosunda Türkler(Sosyal Bilimler Enstitüsü, 2015) Karaca, Ceren; Önalp, Ertuğrul; İspanyol Dili ve EdebiyatıThis dissertation which starts off with the intense Ottoman-Spanish conflicts during the XVI. century, focuses on the Turkish image in the plays of Lope de Vega. In his reconstructed historical comedias, Lope de Vega extensively covers the subject of national values and traditions of Spain. He is considered to be the founder of the Spanish theather. In his plays, the conflicts between Christians and Muslims were addressed in two perspectives: North African Muslims and Turks. In the light of Turkish image which is constructed by Spanish writers during the XVI. century, this dissertation deals with Turkish characters created by Lope de Vega as well as the characteristics of his plays. For this dissertation seven plays were studied which feature Turkish characters who have highlighted personality traits and significant roles on the whole play. Lope de Vega's Turkish image, is a reflection of the imagination of Golden Age writers. It is constructed in contrast to the Christian values in the memory of the theatre audience of the period.
