However in our present education system itis not possible to get the qualifications needed for the actors anddirectors. Despite the expectation of the guidance in the stagepractices different applications have been occurred as a contrary.Mostly experimental or alternative groups have been showing theirpresence in the limited areas.Since it doesn?t take place on our present education system whichis based on traditional theater education of the new approaching of thecontemporary theater which brings differences on the actor, audience,space and design elements and therefore increasing of importance ofindicator of the body language of the actor in the contemporary theatersuch as the signs of space, the necessity of education of acting anddirecting should be thought with design are the starting points of thethesis.The theoritical base of the research is based on determiningqualifications for actor and director on the present theater as much assurveying educational programmes and study of plans of acting anddirecting departments in the world. It is also based on exposing thefunction and importance of stage design and stage design educationat the theater departments where actors and directors will beeducated. In the research, after determining of the qualifications ofactors and directors in the present theater, we have tried to define therole of the stage design education and to expose how stage designcourses should plan for acting and directing departments. Finally acontemporary model has been suggested.In addition to all, we made interviews with the professionals onthis subject to provide benefits and questionnaries have been madewith the candidate actors and directors. All the datas from theinterviews with the professionals and from the questionnarries havebeen evaluated seperately and these have been used the Results andDiscussions part of the research. They also have been placed inappendix as a whole.According to the results on the basis of quantitative andqualitative findings of research, it has been understood that it isnecesseary to consider education with the stage design for bringing toactor and director qualifications which are needed in the presenttheater, and giving place to stage design courses and its applicationson the study of plans at the theater departments where actors anddirectors will be educated.
