Item Bağlanma, insan tanrı ilişkisi ve psikolojik iyi olma(Sosyal Bilimler Enstitüsü, 2012) Korkmaz, Nuran Erdoğruca; Özdoğan, Öznur; FelsefeThe subject of this theses is the relationship between a person and God and that person?s psychological well-being. In the first chapter, related literature is presented. Literature reveals that having a secure relationship with God means a positive relationship with psychological well-being. For that reason, in this study, various kinds of factors were investigated to understand what the relationship is between a human?s attachement to God and psychological well-being. In this context, the first research sample consisted of 465 volunteers (230 female and 225 male) between the ages of 18 and 60. An Attachment to God Inventory was developed and the results of validity and realibility analyses demonstrated that there are two factors which are: a secure and insecure (anxious) attachment to God.The main study sample consisted of 727 volunteers, 444 (64.1%) females and 220 (34.8%) males between the ages of 17 and 41. After administering the Attachment to God Inventory (AGI), the reseracher also administered the following instruments: the Socio-demographic data form, the God Image Scale (GIS), the Social Comparison Scale (SCS), the Submissive Acts Scale (SAS), the Death Axiety Scale (DAS) and the Psychological Well-Being Scale (SWS).After demographic analyses, results showed that women have a more secure relationship with God than men. Also the study showed that the higher the education level of the mother, the lower the secure and the anxious relationship with God is, and vice versa. As well, the educational level of the mother impacted the God Image Scale with the same effect, the higher the education, the lower the GIS. The main hypothesis results showed that self-perception functions as the first predictor variable for psychological well-being. This study also found that a secure attachment to God, a positive God image and positive self-image correlated with positive psychological well-being. In addition, the converse was found, that an insecure attachment to God, high death anxiety, having a more distant relationship with God, and submissive behaviors correlated with a negative psychological well-being. Finally, this study found that both a secure and insecure attachment to God were undifferentiated in terms of death anxiety, God image, relationship with God, and religious practices. In the light of the findings obtained, as well as the literature, self perception is a first predictor for psychological well?being. Secondly, a secure relationship with God can be considered an important factor in supporting psychological well-being and an insecure or anxious attachment to God decreases psychological well- being.
