| dc.description.abstract | This dissertation which starts off with the intense Ottoman-Spanish conflicts during the XVI. century, focuses on the Turkish image in the plays of Lope de Vega. In his reconstructed historical comedias, Lope de Vega extensively covers the subject of national values and traditions of Spain. He is considered to be the founder of the Spanish theather. In his plays, the conflicts between Christians and Muslims were addressed in two perspectives: North African Muslims and Turks. In the light of Turkish image which is constructed by Spanish writers during the XVI. century, this dissertation deals with Turkish characters created by Lope de Vega as well as the characteristics of his plays. For this dissertation seven plays were studied which feature Turkish characters who have highlighted personality traits and significant roles on the whole play. Lope de Vega's Turkish image, is a reflection of the imagination of Golden Age writers. It is constructed in contrast to the Christian values in the memory of the theatre audience of the period. | tr_TR |
| dc.description.ozet | XVI. yüzyıl boyunca yoğun bir şekilde yaşanan Osmanlı – İspanyol çatışmasından yola çıkan bu doktora çalışması Lope de Vega tiyatrosundaki Türk imgesine odaklanmaktadır. Eserlerinde İspanya'nın ulusal değerlerine ve geleneklerine geniş yer veren Lope de Vega, tarihsel olayları yeniden kurgulayarak kaleme aldığı tarihsel comedialarında ele aldığı Hıristiyan-Müslüman çatışmasına eserlerinde Kuzey Afrika'daki Müslümanlar ve Türkler olmak üzere iki farklı düzlemde değinmiştir. Bu çalışmada XVI. yüzyıl boyunca İspanyol yazarlar tarafından oluşturulan Türk imgesi ışığında İspanya'da Ulusal Tiyatro'nun kurucusu olarak kabul edilen Lope de Vega'nın tiyatrosunun özellikleri ele alınmış ve Türkleri konu alan oyunlarında kişilik özellikleriyle ön plana çıkan ve oyunun bütününde anlamlı bir yere sahip olan Türk karakterlerin bulunduğu yedi eserindeki Türk karakterler incelenmiştir. Altın Çağ yazarlarının kendi tahayyüllerinde yarattıkları Türk imgesinin yansıması olan Lope de Vega'nın Türk karakterleri, Hıristiyan – Müslüman çatışmasının merkezinde bir çeşit "öteki" olarak kurgulanmış ve bu şekilde Türklerin dönemin tiyatro seyircisinin belleğinde Hıristiyan değerlerinin karşısında bir yer edinmelerine sebep olmuştur. | tr_TR |
